ArmA is a funny game; it really hammers your computer and yet doesn't look terrifically pretty in spite of that. I have a situation where a keyboard and mouse don't work well for me with playing games. A controller works well most of the time and I am hoping to get dayz to work with my wired controller. Do you know a good way to do so while retaining the key functions of the game? That's just what I was going to suggest.

But forget the Steam version - download the setup files from arma2. It will ask for a serial number during setup. You can technically add the serial number directly to the registry yourself, but if you're not familiar with hexadecimal, I don't advise it.

HI, i've got a question to you: Is the inventory dependant on the server? Do you have another inventory with every new server you join? And is it overwritten when you join a new one? Thank you for your answer ;. Servers are all connected to the central database, which stores your inventory and location. So whichever server you join, your location and stuff will be the same. There are some servers out there running their own database.

There aren't many of them and they tend to marked as "private hive" or "cracked server" or something similar. Help me please I did the same with Lingor Island and it also warks fine.

However, i never start with a bag always a pilot skin , sometimes a crossbow, a G17 or a revolver, but never a bag. I happened to find two on the same building in Lingor Island. One Chech backpack and a Alice backpack. There was some loot around the Alice backpack, however, i am unable to pick up either of the bags! There is no more loot around em, im using first person, but i only see open Could you help me please?

Sorry about that. It's a problem caused by using various different skins. The mod allows for the use of all suitable ArmA 2 and Operation Arrowhead skins. Unfortunately what was forgotten was that ArmA 2 didn't support the use of backpacks - that functionality was introduced in Operation Arrowhead. So if you spawn with an ArmA 2 skin, you won't have a backpack and you'll never be able to pick one up. The only solution is to keep restarting until you spawn with a backpack; then you know that backpack functions are working for sure.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to delete Arma2 skins? IMO this should be fixed in the next version. It is sad to realize you found a coyote backpack and you cant use it. Also, how do survivors work? I'm afraid there really isn't a way to delete those skins. It's frustrating I know, but we just didn't realise until after it was released that this had happened.

Hopefully our programmers will fix it in the next release, but there's always a crowd of people crying out for different features and it's impossible to satisfy everyone. As we're not making any money from this, I don't ask them to do anything specific, but to just work in directions in which they feel happy. But yeah, hopefully it can be fixed in the next release so it doesn't cause any more problems like you're experiencing.

You will find other survivors running about. They're AI controlled and they're bandits. They will attack you sooner or later. You can meet friendly survivors by heading to a church. If you approach a church with open doors the ones in Cherno and Electro definitely work , then you'll find as you enter the doors, two friendly survivors will appear. You can issue them orders by using the ArmA controls pressing F keys to select them and using the mousewheel menu for commands.

We have a forum where people discuss matters related to the single player mode and there are even unofficial updates to the game files on there that add certain features. There's one on there at the moment with improved AI, so that the bandits and friendly survivors are able to behave more like real players.

Now, i can actually enjoy DayZ witouth getting permanently killed by hackers or snipers! I am going to check that file, and i would like to report probably just my computer that the foruns AND comment mechanism dont work in chrome.

Farewell kodabar, and mind the snipers :P. It is possible to run a LAN game like that, but it's not easy at all. There are all kinds of difficulties just getting it running and there are some problems when you do get it going. The way that DayZ has been coded is the main reason. For instance, your character is always coded as the 'player' character.

In the ArmA games' mod structure, there can only ever be one instance of the 'player' character. So when you try a LAN game you end up with three 'player' characters and it gets a bit confused. That said, it's not impossible to do. Have a look at our forum where there is a section for LAN play and there's one quick-and-dirty method detailed in there that might be easy enough for you to try without going insane.

We have thought about including LAN play as a proper option, but it would involve rewriting the whole of DayZ as well as DaiZy, so that would be a huge amount of work for something that only a few people would use. Oh and it would break with each new update to DayZ requiring it to be rewritten all over again. Either the files are in the wrong place or the shortcut is wrong. Inside your Operation Arrowhead folder you should have a folder called DaiZy and inside that another folder called Addons.

If those are right, it will run just fine. I cannot really confirm it, but what i can confirm that the file i deleted was kb and the new one created after using Rammfisch's fix was 93kb.

First of all: Sorry that it took so long for me to respond, it took some time to write this all down! And please remember that it is a very long, but clearly structured post and if everything will work, you normally should be able to play DayZ again. I provide more possible solutions this includes what I did to get working [remember that i sticked to Rammfisch very very closely!

Read this first and read it entirely before doing anything. I can tell you in advance. On the other hand it may work. So i would recommend trying it! My suggestion is to start the procedure provided by Rammfisch again, but i will change it a little bit.

Even if you've deinstalled BattlEye, sometimes its still present in the system. If this is the same you can go ahead. If not, make sure you have a full version patch not a beta patch! After this start the beta which does currently not work for you without battleye of course because you did the steps posted in the code above and try to join a server with battleye enabled which you are sure it has battleye enabled.

You should be able to get in the lobby in some cases. Even if Rammfisch mentioned that you should not be able to get into a lobby it did not affect my result: being able to join into DayZ again. Install beta patch if you have 1. Install BattlEye as soon as the installer for it pops up. If it doesnt, you've done something wrong i guess. Else if you get stuck , to be honest. I do not know what to do then Recommending Arma 2 reinstall would be the first suggestion. Then click on a server having a green icon and make sure it really does not have BattlEye enabled its listed in the descriptions below the server browser.

Btw it is not the crossed out BE icon which represents your filter settings, it is a text information. Some may refuse to be joined because of "Waiting for Host" or "Logging in" Just try to find another one with a green icon and join it until you find one.
